Browsing safely

If someone might check your phone or computer, these steps can help keep your visit private.

  • Use a private or incognito window. In most browsers, press Ctrl + Shift + N (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + N (Mac). On phones, look for “New private tab” or “New incognito tab.”
  • Clear your browsing history after your visit. Look for “History” or “Clear browsing data” in your browser's settings.
  • Use the Quick Exit button (or press Esc twice) to leave this site fast. It opens a weather page.
  • Quick Exit removes this page from your Back button, but other pages from our site may still be in your history. Clearing your history is the safest choice.
  • If you can, use a device the other person can't access, like a computer at a library or a trusted friend's phone.
